Group Study Rooms

The library has eight (8) study rooms (A,B,C,D,G,H,I,J) on the main floor of the library. Study rooms can facilitate 5 (Room A) or 8 users per room and are for group use only. A group is classified as two (2) or more people. Rooms may not be used by only one (1) person.

Student Use

The Study Rooms may be reserved by students online here. Reservations can be made no more than 2 weeks in advance. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. A room may be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours, per student, per day. You may be subject to a shortened loan period depending on other reservations. If rooms are available, students may walk into any room on a first come first served basis.

Students must bring their MVCC ID with them when using the study rooms and may be asked to show ID to verify room reservations.

Study rooms close thirty minutes before closing time. You will need to leave your room by this time.

Faculty/Staff Use

Study rooms cannot be checked out by Faculty and Staff. Faculty and staff requiring an alternative meeting space on campus should contact the Scheduling office at 708-974-5674 or email:

Community Member Use

Community members may utilize a study room on a first come, first served basis, but may not make a reservation in advance. Student groups have priority and you may be asked to give up your room for a student group.

Marker kits for study rooms can be checked out using their RAILS library card or MVCC Community Borrower Card.

Study Room Policies

All Library and College Code of Conduct policies must be observed while using the study room space. You will be asked to leave if you do not comply with library and college wide policies.

  • Study rooms are not for single patron use, you must have a group to utilize a study room or you may be asked to leave.
  • You may not leave your items unattended in a study room. At least one person must remain in checked out study rooms.
  • Due to security issues, there is no napping allowed in study rooms.
  • If you have reserved a study room and are more than 15 minutes late to your reservation, the study room will be opened up for use by other library patrons.
  • Eating is not permitted in the study rooms. You will be asked to put food away, if you do not comply you will be asked to vacate the study rooms.
  • Please be aware of how loud your group or equipment may be. Groups and devices should not be able to be heard outside of the study room.

  • Room Equipment

    All study rooms are equipped with collaboration screens with wired connections via VGA and HDMI cables.

    White Board Markers, Laptops (Apple and Windows), iPads, and connection conversion cables are available for checkout at the circulation desk.
